Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence (HHAI) is an international conference series dedicated to exploring AI systems that work collaboratively, proactively, and purposefully alongside humans, enhancing rather than replacing human intelligence. The goal of HHAI is to develop AI systems that complement human abilities, highlighting the importance of adaptive, collaborative, responsible, interactive, and human-centered intelligence. These systems leverage human strengths and compensate for weaknesses, while also considering social, ethical, and legal implications.

Though the HHAI field is propelled by advances in AI, it requires fundamentally innovative approaches and solutions. We encourage collaboration across various research areas such as AI, HCI, cognitive and social sciences, philosophy, ethics, and complex systems. For this sixth international conference, we invite researchers to submit their best original or ongoing work, as well as forward-looking ideas, on Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence.

Join us in 2027 in Oulu, Northern Finland, where the HHAI conference will be held at the University of Oulu. University of Oulu has a long tradition of innovative technology research, combined with a strong emphasis on humanities, education, and learning sciences. This has paved the way for world-class hybrid intelligence research, which is now one of the University of Oulu’s profiling research themes.

Oulu is a home of people who like to choose their own path and do things differently. We are the birthplace of many of the technologies that shaped modern mobile communications, and today we remain at the forefront of 6G research and innovation. We are also the city that created the wonderfully eccentric Air Guitar World Championships, spreading a message of world peace through music and creativity.

Have you ever experienced the midnight sun? This June in Oulu you can. Our unique northern city by the sea is the capital of bicycling around the year, even at -30 degrees Celsius. In June, there will be no snow or freezing temperatures — only the magical light of the midnight sun, when the sun barely sets. To experience summertime like a local during the conference days, visit one of the public riverside saunas and take a refreshing dip in the Oulu river. Did you know that Oulu has the cleanest city air in the world?
